‘Le Soi de Chez Nous’ is an original painting created for the Art of Faith exhibition in Belgium, on the theme of ‘Coming Home’.
This powerful work illustrates the moment when one fully rediscovers oneself, after having lived for a long time in a foreign land, in an environment where one must sometimes conform and efface oneself in order to meet expectations.

Inspired by a memorable trip in 2013 to my father’s hometown, this painting conveys the deep emotion of rediscovering one’s origins. Echoing the story of the prodigal son, it captures the mixture of excitement, relief and rebirth that one feels when returning ‘home’.

Through this canvas, I also share my own experience as a foreigner: that rare moment when the soul finds a space where it no longer needs to walk on eggshells, where one can finally breathe and exist fully.
